Beltane flower crown

Wild Waya · The Wheel of the Year

Beltane

The fire festival. The earth at full bloom.
The moment the world tips into summer.

On the first of May, the veil between worlds grows thin and the earth speaks loudest. The hawthorn is in full blossom. The maypole rises. Fire is lit. This is the season of desire, of abundance, of stepping fully into your own aliveness.

The Tree of Beltane

Hawthorn — Crataegus monogyna

Guardian of the threshold. Tree of the heart. Sacred to the old ones.

Hawthorn blooms at Beltane. As the Earth tips into summer, the Hawthorn opens her white flowers and the hedgerows fill with her scent. To the ancients, this was not coincidence. The Hawthorn tree stood at the threshold between worlds — between this world and the Otherworld, the faerie realm.

It is also one of the most profound heart medicines we have. In the video below, I share the spiritual meaning of Hawthorn at this time of year — and the full materia medica below gives you everything you need to work with her medicinally.
